What to look for in a headlamp tester
With the advent of ‘complex’ and ‘hi-energy (Xenon) headlamp systems it is now necessary to acquire one of the new generation of headlamp testers. It is mandatory for all new MOT stations to employ this equipment and the key to whether a headlamp tester falls in to this category is to check that it was approved for use by VOSA on or after 1st January 2006. Some models include sensing devices to enable a beam to be checked and set very accurately. Since the quality of beam setting is an issue with VOSA, it is worth considering this option where available.
